Avonhead Renovation - How it all started…
I was fortunate enough to work on this amazing renovation last year with fantastic clients!
More often than not Interior Designers are brought on board after the architects plans are finalised. This is often a missed chance to have someone trained to look at a space differently and accommodate ideas tailored to how you use the space. In this case we worked through the plans before they went to council and I adjusted the original plans to give extra space in the kitchen by moving a wall back and altering the suggested entrance position to the new open plan space, therefore creating better flow. This also enabled the kitchen design to be done first so the windows that were being changed could be placed aesthetically and correctly, rather than trying to fit cabinetry around them. Working in this manner enables the best outcome for all. Spacial planning, furniture placement, appliances chosen and cabinetry can be done at the start and then walls put in the correct place. There are many occasions when a desired fridge doesn’t quite fit a gap. How annoying is it when if that wall was just 7cm longer it would be perfect?
Over the next few weeks you will see each area of the renovation along with details of how we got there and what has been used.
